Introduction

Viewfinder Mailing List is a powerful but simple way to create and manage a mailing list or newsletter for your website. It offers a balance between functionality and ease of use, allowing anyone to quickly install and start using it.

Requirements

To be honest, I don't know for certain what the Mailing List actually requires, but as far as I can tell, the following:

Features

Viewfinder Mailing List currently has the following features:

Installation

To install Viewfinder Mailing List, follow these steps:

  1. Unzip the package to a directory (I'm assuming you've managed that as you're reading this)
  2. FTP all of the files to your server, I would suggest using a subdirectory such as 'maillist'
  3. Point your browser at the install.php file within this new directory
  4. Follow the directions on the screen (make sure you have your database details to hand)
  5. Once it's installed, visit the admin section and fill in the relevant details
  6. Copy the form code (i.e. everything between <form> and </form>) or pop-up link from the index.html file and paste into the page you want people to sign up from
  7. If you want to create a separate unsubscribe page, copy the form code from the unsubscribe.html file and paste into the page you want people to unsubscribe from

Support

This is the first release of Viewfinder Mailing List and as such it's essentially a beta release. I've tested on two different systems and bug hunted as best I could, but some always slip through, especially when people try and do things I'd never anticipated. That said, it should work well enough.

Viewfinder Mailing List is a free product and I am only one man, so I cannot offer full support. For general support, the support forums are your best bet. I do try my best to answer any queries that reach me, but I will give preference to anyone who has made a donation first.

Donate

And speaking of donations, they do help keep the site running and the software free. I don't have a high paid hotshot job so while I don't desire people pay for the software, every little helps.
